Thessalon Township Heritage Park and Museum

The Heritage Park Museum is located in a pleasant pastoral setting on Highway 129, about 3 kilometers north of Highway 17 from Thessalon, in the village of Little Rapids.

The Museum complex is situated in a 3-acre park, readily visible from the Highway.  The buildings feature three types of log construction used by the pioneers.  They symbolize community life when cultural and social activities were centered in the home, school, and church.

Displays comprise native stone tools and weapons from the Archaic period, and many artifacts relating to lumbering and farming in the late 1800's.

The Museum is open 10:00am to 5pm daily, July and August.  Other times can be arranged by appointment.  For information, contact the Huron Shores Municipal Office at (705)843-2033.
